About

I am a PhD candidate in Cold War Era American literature at the University of North Texas. My dissertation focuses on the post-apocalyptic genre and social anxieties surrounding the end of the world. Aside from the post-apocalyptic, my research interests include the Southern Gothic, Postmodernism, Existentialism, and American tragic narratives.

I have two dogs and one cat and love them all as though they were my children. I volunteer as a grant writer for the Denton Animal Support Foundation. Aside from volunteering, I work in the First-Year Writing Program at UNT. I am also the current (2016-2017) President of the Graduate Students in English Association.

I also love (or love to hate) films. Please take a moment to check out my blog, “Jay Hates Movies,” which may also include reviews on television, films, and video games.
